Hæ everyone!
My name is Anke and I am from the Netherlands. I am the new ESC volunteer of AFS Iceland and will be working at the office for the next 12 months.
I grew up in a small town in the North of the Netherlands doing a lot of sports. My mom had been an exchange student in Texas in 1985/1986. I have visited her host family many times and seeing the relationship with her family I wanted to go on an AFS exchange myself as well. In 2014/2015 I went on my own exchange to the suburbs of Chicago. Right after I came back, I became a volunteer for AFS Netherlands. There I am a trainer and one of the coordinators of the national activities for participants. You could also find me with information sessions or fairs.
I am super excited to get to know you and to work with you this year. Some of you might already know me from international EFIL events, which I love to attend. I am looking forward to learning more about Iceland as well and I hope soon I will be able to understand (and speak) the language. See you soon!
